Art Deco Capitol - Napier

As our motel last night was out of town, we decided to find one more central for the rest of our stay here. After checking in at the Nautilus on the main promenade ( Marine Parade) we went for a walk to explore the sights. On the prom we came across an open air theatre, which would be a nice venue for a Summer's evening concert. The city was virtually destroyed by an earthquake in the 1930dds and was tastefully rebuilt in the art decor style. After a coffee in Starbucks we stumbled on a little park area, which was just beautiful, slap bang in the centre of the city. We had a nice view from the motel room Across the road from the motel was the aquarium, which we visited after lunch. Saw them feeding orphaned and rescued blue penguins, stingrays and sharks. The downside of the day was that it started to rain at tea time. Since the clocks went back last weekend the weather has turned quite cold (8 degrees) at night, 18 degrees in the day.
