We got up early today to say our goodbyes a big thankyou to Michael, who was off to work, for the hospitality given to us during our 17 day stay in Otumoetai. Sue wasn't going to get rid of us that easily on her day off,she had our company until after lunch. Steven had the long drive back to Wellington to contend with. His 10 o'clock. departure never materialised & nobody expected it to.
We had all gone to see Ruth in hospital to see how she was doing, the previous night and to say our farewells. She was in good spirits & should be going home on Tuesday.
Steven finally set off, after a photo shoot in the back garden at 1.00pm
With the sun still shining (23 degrees) & very little traffic on the roads we arrived at the airport at 4.30. Whilst on North Island we had covered some 2874 kms.
After checking the car in at the rental bay we phoned our hotel, who sent a shuttle bus for us. We were in our room at the Jet Park. hotel by 5.15.
Left the hotel at 10.30 for the airport. Our flight to Sydney was due to leave at 12.40 We are flying Qantas Airlines so hopefully there won't be any delays. Got an e-mail yesterday from my cousin Phyllis who lives in Sydney, informing us "the sunshine is waiting for us" Just sitting in the departure lounge finishing this blog off.
