The crossing from South Island was very calm, not too many on the ferry,so we were able to spread out. With South Island still in the distance, North Island was clearly visible on the Port side of the ferry. Docking in Wellington , The Windy City, on tlme at 4.30. we were in our hotel room for 5 o'clock.

"HELLO SON, FANCY SEEING YOU HERE"
At about 6.30 that evening, down in the foyer of our hotel we met up with our eldest son Steven.

We all went out for tea to "The Backbencher" pub in the city.

On Easter Sunday we went to Mass at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart. The weather surprised us on Easter morning as it was raining, shock, horror !!!!!!!

In the afternoon our guide for the tour of Wellington (our Steven) called for us at the hotel and walked us around the city all afternoon. The rain had stopped and the wind was blowing, but it was warm.

We went up to Kelburn on the cable car and walked back down through the botanical gardens. After some tea in one of the Irish bars we bid our guide for the afternoon farewell and went to the Opera House to watch The Searchers and Gerry and the Pacemakers.
Today, Easter Monday, we went for a tour of New Zealand's Parliament buildings. The building in the foreground is the Parliament, the circular building in the background known as "The Beehive" houses all the Cabinet departments.

Photography wasn't allowed on the tour, so no pictures. From there we caught a bus out to Newtown district of the city, to meet up with Steven at his house. After getting off the bus we walked through The Basin, which was the scene of the 2nd test match last month. A chance for some more pictures to go with the ones that I had taken at Dunedin test ground.

Whilst at Steven's place, we met up with his house mates.
