To our most Southerly point - Invercargill

Leaving Te Anau early afternoon we head South to the most Southerly point of our trip, the city of Invercargill. We took the scenic route again, as we have for most of drives. At last we see sheep,sheep and more sheep as opposed to cattle. "Dairy" as the kiwis call them is fast taking over from sheep in the farming community. More money to be had by producing milk (to be converted into powdered form) for export to China. The downside to that is that the land needs to be fertilised to nourish the pastures and that then finds it's way into the water systems. The journey was uneventful and the roads quiet as usual. Before leaving we took a few snaps of Lake TE ANAU in daylight to compare them with the ones we took at dusk the previous evening. We stopped off at a viewing point about 50 kms from Invercargill and took some more snaps. Hope you like them. The viewing point at McCrackens Rest en route to Invercargill. Home for the next two nights, The Colonial Motel, Mary Street, Invercargill. Had a ride to a town called Riverton, which is about 30kms North of Invercargill to visit the heritage museum. We then headed back through Invercargill and out to the lands end of New Zealand.
